Harris, Scott at sports medicine conference

Two UHS staffers were among the presenters at the American College of Sports Medicine's New England Chapter conference on Nov. 15 in Providence, R.I. Robin Harris, M.S., C.A.D.A.C., of the Athletic Health Enhancement Program and Linda Scott, Ph.D. of Mental Health Services, spoke to some 200 providers on "Athletes in Trouble: A Multidisciplinary Approach to Working with Athletes at Risk."
SHAB project spotlights smoking issue

Earlier this month, volunteers from UHS' Student Health Advisory Board (SHAB) combed the campus, looking for discarded cigarette butts. Eleven and a half pounds of butts were collected during "No Butts About It Day - nearly double the volume from last year's inaugural event. Today, this treasure trove of trash was on view in the Campus Center. The display, created in conjunction with the American Cancer Society's Great American Smokeout, illustrated the negative health and environmental impact of cigarette smoking. At the program’s resource fair, health educator Rachael Goren and Patient Services representative Kathie Pipczynski (pictured, l-r) were on hand to answer questions, along with Patty Mascis of the New Student Immunization Program, Ruth McNew of Patient Services, health educators Marisa Hebble, Hermence Matsotsa, April McNally, Tom Schiff and Danny Wertheimer.
UHS Executive Director Bernette Melby also led twice-daily presentations for parents during the program, sharing information on campus resources and financial matters.
