Graduate Assistantships
Working as a graduate assistant in the Center for Health Promotion is a rewarding and fulfilling experience. Appointments typically vary between 10 - 20 hours a week; all meet Graduate Employee Organization guidelines.
Qualifications vary by position, but in general, we seek:

Graduate students enrolled in a degree program in public health, education, or other closely related human relations profession.

Significant prior work experience with health education and community programs, including development, implementation and evaluation.

Working knowledge of health care issues, community development, group dynamics, teaching health promotion/disease prevention principles and techniques.

Ability to work effectively with a diverse population of students, UHS staff and campus community members. Diversity includes race, gender, culture, nationality, sexual orientation and ability. Knowledge of UMass Amherst preferred.

Ability to organize work, exercise good judgment, complete tasks in a timely manner, collaborate, and perform routine supportive tasks such as scheduling and recordkeeping.
- Computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office suite, e-mail. Strong knowledge of social media and emerging technologies is highly desirable.

Good written and verbal English communication skills; proficiency in another language a plus.

Prior facilitation, presentation and training experience preferred.
