The Learning Resource Center (LRC) provides a full range of academic support services. Its mission is to improve retention and graduation rates at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Open during the academic year, LRC offers UMass students a peer-supported environment to meet academic challenges.

Peer Tutoring is offered to students on a walk-in basis. It is available for many first- and second-year courses in a variety of subjects. Students may be tutored individually or in small groups.

Supplemental Instruction (SI), for traditionally difficult academic courses, provides regularly scheduled, out-of-class, peer-facilitated study sessions. These informal review seminars encourage students to compare notes, discuss readings, develop or ganizational tools, and predict test items.

Tutors and SI leaders are model students trained to assist their peers in achieving academic success.
