Director: Sally Freeman
123 Berkshire House, 545-0333
Counseling and Assessment Services (CAS) provides a broad spectrum of clinical
and skills-related services to all students of the University. Services include
psychological counseling and therapy, diagnostic assessment, career counseling,
biofeedback, and stress management. In addition, CAS runs a series of workshops
each semester focusing on motivation, improving academic achievement, career
concerns, time management, and stress reduction. CAS also serves students with
documented psychological disabilities, including Attention Deficit Hyperactivity
Disorder (ADHD).
Diagnostic assessment services are available on a referral basis for students
who are experiencing academic and learning problems. Comprehensive test batteries
designed to assess the presence of learning disabilities, Attention Deficit
Disorder, and a variety of psychological disorders that can interfere with learning,
are available. The diagnostic assessment report that each student receives is
complete with individualized recommendations that are specifically relevant
to the campus and its resources. Fees for these assessments are covered under
the University's Student Health Insurance Plan; various additional payment options
are also available.
CAS provides case management and academic support for psychological disabilities.
Case management services include assistance with procuring reasonable accommodations,
time management and study skills assistance, assistance in setting academic
and personal goals, referrals to other appropriate support services, and liaison
with other mental health service providers.
Intakes for counseling appointments and for assessment information can be made
by calling 545-0333 or by visiting 123 Berkshire House. Information sessions
for psychological disability services may be scheduled by calling 577-2457 or
