Faculty service is the key driver.
We depend on faculty, their students and staff to recognize when they make inventions in their research, and then tell us about them. So, UMass Amherst faculty inventors are our most important customers. We have simplified a number of procedures and are making policies more ‘faculty friendly,” and making interactions with faculty more personal. We are developing new educational and outreach programs. And most importantly, we are going out and talking with faculty and other inventors, and we are looking for inventions everyplace we can think of!
We hope to convince everyone at UMass Amherst to see themselves as inventors, and give them a positive experience working with us so they will come back again and again.
We want to dramatically increase the number of inventions at UMass Amherst, and to convert them into an increased number of new products and services.
