Title: What is a Flat Sonnet?: Exploring the Potential of Experimental Translation
Participants will tackle a few of Frédéric Forte's experimental, Oulipian sonnets.
Emma Ramadan is a literary translator from French to English based in Providence, RI, where she co-owns Riffraff bookstore and bar. She is the recipient of an NEA grant, a PEN/Heim grant, a Fulbright Fellowship, and the 2018 Albertine Prize. Her translations include Sphinx and Not One Day by Anne Garréta, 33 Flat Sonnets by Frédéric Forte, Pretty Things by Virginie Despentes, The Shutters by Ahmed Bouanani, and Me & Other Writing by Marguerite Duras.
