Served as Artistic Director of the Oakland Ensemble Theatre, Resident Director
at Rites and Reason, a developmental research theater at Brown University,
was Program Coordinator of Kaiser Permanente's Educational Theatre Programs
and was an acting company member of the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis. Served
on theater faculties at the University of California at Berkeley, the University
of Michigan at Ann Arbor and the University of Rhode Island at Kingston.
Directed Off-Broadway and at regional theaters around the country, including
Arena Stage, Goodman Theatre, Old Globe Theatre, Oregon Shakespeare Festival
and Playwrights Horizons. Productions include Polaroid Stories and
his own play, Crossing John At the Crossroads at UMass. Directed
world premieres of Cheryl West's Jar the Floor and Puddin' 'n
Pete, Ossie Davis's Sybil, J.E. Franklin's Borderline Fool, Ari
Roth's Goodnight Irene, and the West African premiere of August
Wilson's Joe Turner's Come and Gone, commissioned by the United
States Information Service, at the National Theatre of Ghana in Accra.
