DREAM PLAY Weather notice:
Because the University is closed today, the Feb. 7 performance of DREAM PLAY has been postponed to Feb. 8.
Audience members with tickets for Feb. 7 will be welcome to attend the rescheduled performance on Feb. 8 instead. Those who cannot attend on Feb. 8 should contact the Fine Arts Center Box Office at 413-545-2511 and can exchange their tickets for one of the remaining performances on a space-available basis.
What better way to face the absurdity of our own reality than to plunge ourselves into a waking dream? In this site-specific, immersive version of Strindberg’s classic Dream Play, audience members mingle with actors as they weave together a performance encompassing music, dance, and text. Together, they tell the story of Agnes, mischievous daughter of the God Indra, as she journeys to Earth in her quest to understand the human experience in all its messy, wild, joyful glory.
Tickets: $5 students and seniors, $15 general admission
A NOTE FOR DREAM PLAY AUDIENCES:
Audience members will be asked to move through several spaces during the course of this performance and may be asked to stand for an extended time. All spaces are accessible and limited seating is provided for those who cannot stand for long periods of time. Please contact the department of theater if you have questions. Theatrical fog and fragrances may be used in the performance.
Audience members are asked not to bring bags or large items to the theater. The Department of Theater will have a staffed coat and bag check for those who need it but cannot be responsible for lost or stolen items.
Please be aware there may be archival photography or filming if you attend the Feb. 7, 9, or 10 performance. If you would prefer not to be filmed or photographed, please let a member of the house staff know.
