Our Production of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead

April 3-5 and 9-12, 2003 at 8 PM, Student Matinee April 9 at 10 AM

Our production of Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead was the product of almost a year of work by undergraduate Theater majors. Ordinarily in the UMass Department of Theater, productions are directed and designed by faculty and graduate students. But this production highlights the work of our talented and motivated undergraduates, both on stage and off. Director Lara Allee led the team of designers in creating a production concept that emphasizes the isolation of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, the corruption of Claudius' Court, and the theatricality of the Players.

The set, inspired in part by the art of M.C. Escher, represents a sort of vortex where Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are trapped.

In this portion of the website, you can read the dramaturg's program note, learn more about the Cast and the Production Team, and view images of renderings by Costume Designer Anna Wronsky.
