Audition information for Beyond the Horizon
Please prepare 2-3 minutes of material that best showcases your talents. This could include a monologue, a poem, a joke, song, dance, a musical instrument performance, a movement piece, storytelling, circus arts, puppetry, a display of your own special talent or any combination of those. Whether choosing one or more of the above, what is most important is that you use the time to show us what you do best. Sign up sheets for auditions are posted on the Department of Theater Call Board outside Fine Arts Center Room 112 about a week before auditions. If you have further questions, please email the project's Artistic Director, Megan McClain.
Mission of the Project
In light of the Deepwater Horizon disaster in the Gulf and subsequent environmental catastrophes, the Beyond the Horizon Festival seeks to use performance to map and explore our changing relationship to the natural world and offer models of community response to ecological crisis. Three original collectively-created performance pieces will be developed by an interdisciplinary community of artists, musicians, scientists, and ecologists across the Five-College Consortium and presented as part of the UMASS Theater Department season April 5-7 and 10-14.
