Research and Development Partnering Resources

Funding Pollution Prevention Research

The FY 2003 funding cycle is a joint effort between NETI and the other three STEP centers in the UMass system.
University of Massachusetts faculty were invited to submit grant applications to four separate University Research Programs:

  • University Research in Sustainable Technologies (URST) program at UMass Lowell,
  • Chelsea Center for Recycling and Economic Development (Chelsea),
  • Marine Technology, Advanced Technology and Manufacturing Center (ATMC) at UMass Dartmouth, and
  • National Environmental Technology Institute (NETI) at UMass Amherst.

The solicitations were presented in a single RFP document this year since the programs have many similarities and share overall guiding principles. Each Research Center has its own specific mission and vision but all seek to improve the environmental impact and economic potential of activities within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The grant awards for state fiscal year 2003 will run from September 2002 through August 2003. Industry partnering is required for all funded research projects. Projects with cash support from industry partners will be preferred to those with in-kind contributions.
