What Is The UMass Tax School?

We offer a number of two day workshops on Federal and State taxes designed to provided updates on the latest tax laws and regulations. These workshops are given in November and December at various locations in Massachusetts. The content changes each year and is based on materials in the current Income Tax Workbook. This workbook, which is completely rewritten each year, is used at similar tax schools throughout the United States.

We also offer one day specialized workshops on Estate and Gift tax reporting and Fiduciary income tax reporting.

Workshops are offered in cooperation with the Internal Revenue service and the Massachusetts Department of Revenue.

Participants needing to fulfill continuing professional education requirements can obtain CPE credits, as can those who need Massachusetts Division of Insurance credits and CFP® certificants. Further details can be found in the brochure.

Who is the Tax School For?

The intended audience for all workshops is experienced professional tax practitioners, including accountants, enrolled agents, certified public accountants and attorneys. A typical participant will have had several years experience in completing individual, small business and partnership returns and will complete 200 or more returns in a year.

The estate and gift tax and fiduciary income tax reporting workshops are intended for practitioners with extensive general experience who prepare only a few of these specialized returns (Forms 706, 709, 1041) in a year and who are looking for some basic guidelines.
