Food connects us all, regardless of ethnicity, income or geography. It is something we all interact with each day. It impacts the health of our bodies, our environment, and our overall happiness. Yet, it is increasingly understood that our current food system is not promoting public health or environmental sustainability. We think we can do better.
The UMass Healthy and Sustainable Food System Initiative converts one of UMass Amherst's on-campus dining halls into a premier campus eatery dedicated to sustainability, health, and wellness and provides a defensible and cost-effective example for all campuses to emulate.
