The role of the Community Organizer Fellow is to advance on-campus sustainability campaigns. This will be achieved by becoming an active member of campaigns and taking on a leadership position in the group. The Organizing Fellow will also work to facilitate collaboration between other student groups and faculty on campus to strengthen relationships between them.
This fellow will work with other members of the Sustainable UMass team to improve current building processes through existing energy efficiency and conservation programs and proposals for new programs.
The Green Games Residence Hall Competition, which Green Game Fellows help to run for 8 weeks each spring, is designed to increase environmental awareness and positive green impacts across the campus.
One of the most interactive and collaborative programs of Sustainable UMass is the Green Office Program. This program increases environmental awareness and reduces our carbon footprint as a university through friendly competition between offices.
The Sustainable UMass team is in the midst of several exciting projects and is constantly working to expand and improve its efforts. This fellow will be hired with the sole purpose of creating marketing and media materials to raise awareness about campus sustainability initiatives, programs, and events.
This fellow serves the role of the Student Auxiliary Sustainability Coordinator to support projects currently in progress and works to initiate new ideas around sustainable agriculture, purchasing local food, etc.
This fellow has the responsibility of educating the campus community about their transportation options while promoting new sustainable choices.
UMass has had an extraordinary recycling program since the 1970's and has successfully added a composting program as well. This fellow will work to increase the campus community's utilization of the recycling and composting programs that exist at the university.
