Summer Design Academy
Learn about design in a college environment. Discover what it might be like to pursue a profession in design fields such as architecture, urban design, landscape architecture, and interior design.
As a Summer Design Academy student, you will engage in a hands-on investigation of design, exploring the role design plays in the built environment, and broadening your understanding of the world around you.
In the studio environment of the academy, you’ll see demonstrations and take part in group discussions that will encourage your personal exploration. You’ll engage in exercises that span the breadth of design practices, including site, context, view, experience, light, materials, structure, rhythm, and scale. You’ll focus on learning by doing with intensive drawing, and model making.
At the end of the session, you will participate in design reviews and produce an exhibition of your group’s work.
This program has an additional $100 materials and tools fees for each two-week session.
