What you need to know to apply to UMass Amherst Summer College

We accept applications from rising juniors and seniors in high school who are in good academic standing and have no academic or disciplinary suspensions on their records. High school seniors who will graduate in the spring of 2012 are also welcome. A few programs may consider rising high school sophomores provided they are sufficiently mature to benefit from a University environment. Please check the course descriptions carefully for eligibility requirements. (Rising high school seniors are students who will have completed their junior year by June of 2012. Rising high school juniors will have completed their sophomore year by June 2012.)
Admissions are made on a rolling basis, but it is best to apply early since programs fill up quickly. Students must apply by:
- Filling in all required information on the Summer College online application.
- Providing a short letter indicating interest in a specific program, if you have attended other pre-college programs tell us where and when. (Note: Some programs ask you to respond to specific questions please check the program you are interested in for details.)
- Upload a high school transcript (PDFs or Word documents) from the last two years including grades from fall 2011.
- Providing an email address of a high school guidance counselor or teacher who can comment about your ability to succeed in a Summer College program.
- Submitting a $35 non-refundable application fee.
UMass Amherst Summer College does not require standardized test scores.
Application Information for International Applicants
International rising high school juniors and seniors are eligible for these programs as are freshman from international universities of colleges.
