UMass Amherst invites motivated high school students interested in hands-on learning experiences to apply to the programs that Summer College offers! This year, we have more than a dozen programs running from July 6th through August 2nd.
Why go to Summer College? You can earn college credit AND you can use your experience to write your college entrance essay! What better way for a college to get you know who you are and what you care about?

UMass Amherst Summer College was created to give you the opportunity to get an early start on your college career. As a Summer College student, you’ll learn, create and engage in research in an innovative and exciting community of artists, researchers and scholars. You’ll explore potential majors, talk with other students, work with UMass faculty, and experience life on a college campus.
Summer College intensives are designed to help you explore areas of interest and develop the skills and abilities that will help you succeed in any college or university. All of our programs are college-level courses and offer optional college credit.
Summer College 2014 Dates
Summer College 2014 programs will run in 4 intensive sessions beginning on June 29, 2014 and ending on August 9, 2014.
- One week Intensive A1: Sunday June 29 - Saturday July 5, 2014 (CANCELED)
- Six week pre-college Research Intensives A2: Sunday June 29 - Saturday August 9, 2014
- Two week pre-college Intensive B: Sunday July 6 - Saturday July 19, 2014
- Two week pre-college Intensive C: Sunday July 20 - Saturday August 2, 2014
