Programs for International High School Students

Session 1 - July 12th-July 25th

Academic Foundations for Non-Native English Speakers (AFNNES) is a unique program for high school students who wish to improve their academic English ability and learn what it's like to be a university student in the US. It is an immersive experience that is designed to prepare students to study and work in the US and other English-speaking regions. Our hand-picked instructors are experts in teaching non-native English speakers. AFNNES students will also interact with US students in a seminar called "Front Page," which is built around discussion of current events. Please contact us if you would like to know more about this special program.

AFNNES students who complete the first two weeks may also stay an additional two weeks to take an intensive subject-based course.
If you are a student at a bilingual school or have otherwise developed proficient academic English skill, we invite you to choose from our selection of one- and two-week pre-college programs for high school students. More information can be found here.

If you are enrolled in University outside the US and would like to experience life at a research university in the states while earning college credit, please consider joining us on campus this summer. You will take two courses taught in English. The first is called "Ideas That Change the World," which challenges students to think critically about our world and the profound ideas that shaped it. A close connection is maintained in the course between the concept of the historical innovator and the concept of the student as potential creator. The second course is called "Front Page," which revolves around discussions of current events and their implications.
