Get to know the Greek and Service & Engagement Councils!

Greek Councils

IFC Council: The Interfraternity Council promote and encourage the personal development of member Fraternities - intellectually, morally, physically, and socially - and to foster closer friendships, set standards, and develop a stronger sense of community among the member Fraternities and the University. 

National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC): The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) aims to maintain greek life and greek relationships, serve as a liasion between the University and the affiliated organizations, encourage member organizations to participate in community development programs as a council and be actively involved in the UMass community by supporting other orgs at events and engaging in community service, act as the advocate of member organizations on matters of policy and public relations and be actively involved in the UMass community by supporting other orgs at events and engaging inc ommunity service and to promote and foster academic excellence among general body members and the council.

Multicultural Greek Council (MGC): Develops and maintains fraternity life and intrafraternity relations at a high level of accomplishment. They consider the goals and ideals of member groups as continually applicable to campus and personal life, promote superior scholarship as basic to intellectual achievement and cooperate with member fraternities/sororities and university administration in concern for cultural awareness and maintenance of high social and moral standards.

Panhellenic Council (PC): The Panhellenic Council serves as the local governing council for the NPC-affiliated sororities operating on campus as well as the council-affiliates. The Panhellenic Council sponsors a formal recruitment program, social events, and community service initiatives for its member chapters.

The Service & Engagement Council aims to promote and support the goals of each member organization; inspire and educate students about the importance of service and engagement; and connect people with shared passions and interests to relevant organizations, projects, and opportunities on campus, in surrounding communities, and in the world.
