Residence Hall Closing
Residence halls close for the semester on Thursday, May 5 at 8 p.m. Graduating seniors and commencement volunteers may stay until May 8 at 10 a.m. Others with a specific need to stay late can make a request from April 19 until May 5 at 8:30 a.m.

April 27-28: UMass Gives
UMassGives is our 36-hour online giving campaign, helping UMass departments, clubs, and groups raise funds. Past success stories include:
• The Department of Sport Management raised almost $14,000
• The Outing Club raised almost $7,000
• Women for UMass raised almost $6,000

In the OffCampusLife Blog, students discuss such topics as off-campus cooking, local events, and DIY apartment decorating. New posts go up every week.

Eric Collins Memorial Award for High School Seniors
The Franklin-Hampshire Chapter of PFLAG presents the Eric Collins Memorial Award to two graduating seniors, one from Franklin County and one from Hampshire County, in the amount of $250 each. The recipients of these awards will be students who have contributed to the LGBTQI+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, etc.) community and their allies, through advocacy, support and/or education. It is open to eligible high school seniors regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression. The deadline for all awards and supporting documents is April 15, 2016.

Apply for Summer Jobs with Upward Bound
Apply to be an Upward Bound Summer Institute Residential Program tutor/mentor or assistant residential supervisor. The program runs July 5 through August 12.

Jobs with the Off Campus Student Center
Apply to be an Off Campus Assistant for the 2016-2017 academic year. For more information, stop by the Off Campus Student Center in 314 Student Union. Applications are due Friday, April 8.

Work with the Center for Women and Community in Fall 2016
Volunteer, internship, work-study, and other CWC positions are open to Five College students and staff.

Open Education Initiative: Free access to textbooks and other educational materials
Take advantage of the Open Education Initiative! Launched by the UMass Libraries in 2011, it has saved students $1.3 million.

Music, Theater, and Dance
The Department of Music and Dance, the Department of Theater, and the Fine Arts Center offer a rich schedule of concerts, recitals, and performances in April. They include the 34th Annual Saxophone Symposium (April 2), the Maria Schneider Orchestra at the FAC (April 9), the Magic Triangle Jazz Series (April 28), new plays by UMass students, and our dance students’ senior thesis projects.

Films on Campus
April is a great month to catch a movie on campus. Check out the Spanish Film Series on Tuesdays, the Pioneer Valley Labor Film Festival screenings (including Pride), the Massachusetts Multicultural Film Festival, Further Off the Straight and Narrow: New Gay Visibility on Television, 1998-2006, part of the Diversity and Social Justice Film Series.

CMASS Asian Pacific Islander American Heritage Month Events
Events include a screening of the film Lagaan (April 5), a workshop of Asian cultural dances (April 7), a talk on Asian women in the workforce by Prof. Millian Kang (April 12), the Five College Conference for Compassion (April 16), and the Asian Night Showcase.

Islam Awareness Month
This Muslim Students Association hosts a yearly Islam Awareness Month to educate people about Muslims/Islam. Events include Naiyerah Kolkailah on "Women in Islam" (April 8), "Who Was Muhammad?" with Taymullah Abdur-Rahman (April 13), and "Islam in America" with Khalid Latif (April 19).

Spring Athletics Action
Take a break in April to watch the UMass men’s and women’s lacrosse teams and our baseball team compete at home.
