The mission of the Center for Alcohol and other Drug Abuse Prevention is to promote an environment that supports responsible decision-making regarding alcohol and other drug use, on campus and in the community. To be effective, prevention efforts need to include environmental management, targeting the issue at five levels:
- individual – knowledge, attitudes, and skills;
- interpersonal – friends, social networks and family;
- organizational – the college or university;
- community – neighborhoods and areas around campus; and
- societal – policies at the local, state and national levels.
