Center for Alcohol and other Drug Abuse Prevention

The mission of the Center for Alcohol and other Drug Abuse Prevention is to promote an environment that supports responsible decision-making regarding alcohol and other drug use, on campus and in the community. To be effective, prevention efforts need to include environmental management, targeting the issue at five levels:

  • individual – knowledge, attitudes, and skills;
  • interpersonal – friends, social networks and family;
  • organizational – the college or university;
  • community – neighborhoods and areas around campus; and
  • societal – policies at the local, state and national levels.
