9am-3.15pm

UMass Amherst is proud to bring you the 12th Annual STRING DAY on Sunday February 4th, 2018.  For the past 11 years, the string department has invited the New England string playing community to the UMass campus to experience and work with both faculty and current string students for a fun filled day of music making String players of all ages are welcome to participate and you can find more information under the description page and the music links page.

As an individual participant, you will have the opportunity to work closely with current UMass string students and faculty: Elizabeth Chang, violin; Kathryn Lockwood, viola; our new cello faculty Edward Arron; Sal Macchia, bass; and our new orchestra director Morihiko Nakahara.

Please see Schedule for more description about these events and go to Music Links Page to view descriptions about the 3 levels of Opus Orchestras and see what is appropriate for you.

The day will culminate in a final performance by all STRING DAY participants to which parents and the public are invited.
