Merriam Internship Award

This year the donor, Dwight Merriam '68 (sociology), has made it possible
for us to give out 4 awards of up to $2,500 to support students taking
unpaid internships. We will make two awards at the end of this semester to
students who are planning to do semester-long internships in the spring. The
*deadline* for students to apply is *Friday, Dec. 5, 2008*. We will give out
two more awards in the spring for students taking summer or fall internships
(that deadline is 4/17/09).

This award provides financial support to undergraduate students who have an
interest in public policy, law, ecological conservation, and/or real estate
development for summer or semester-long internships. Preference will be
given to students of junior standing, with financial need as determined by
the UMass Amherst Financial Aid Office. Candidates must be in good academic
standing with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.

Please feel free to be in touch if you have questions - you can also refer
students to me if they have questions.

The updated application is also on our website:
