How to become a STPEC majorSTPEC welcomes inquiries from students already enrolled at the University of Massachusetts as well as from entering students and from potential transfer students at other universities. For more information, contact: Social Thought and Political Economy Program Matriculated UMass Amherst students: Students who are already enrolled at UMass Amherst and wish to join the major should first come to the STPEC Program Office in E-27A for an initial meeting with a STPEC advisor. If, after that meeting, they are convinced that STPEC is the right major for them, they should sign up for a New Student Meeting. New Student Meetings are generally held twice a semester. You will meet with STPEC’s Director Sara Lennox and several current STPEC students, who will welcome you to STPEC and answer any remaining questions you may have. UMass Amherst applicants (first-year students and transfers): Students may indicate on their university applications that they wish to be accepted as a STPEC major. Students may also change into the STPEC Program during their initial summer advising sessions.
STPEC first-year and transfer students who enter the university declared as STPEC majors are expected to sign up for a New Student Meeting during their first semester at the university. |
