Job Description and Responsibilities:

We tailor our programs to each student to satisfy interests and goals for the summer. Students experience all positions, spending time with each level of management. Interns rotate through the following positions:
Landscape Management Field Experience

Landscape Management Field Experience:
The student/intern will experience the life of a Landscape Management Assistant Supervisor:
• Hands-on training in safe equipment operation, pruning techniques, insect ID/control and chemical applications
• Management of site operations
• Troubleshooting of problems in the landscape
• Management of crew
• Experience in customer service and communication
• Possible opportunities to work independently on special projects
Irrigation Services:
A student will work directly with the Irrigation Services Manager as a technician. Experiences include:
• Working directly with the Irrigation Service

Manager as a technician
• Servicing and trouble-shooting a variety of system configurations
• Training in evaluating system effectiveness
• Identifying and repairing defective system components such as: inoperable valves, broken lines, cut wires, and faulty controllers

Landscape Design:
Interns in this field will work alongside one of our Landscape Designers in actual projects such as:
• Site analysis
• Design layout
• Drawing base plans
• Rendering and creating presentations
• Taking digital images and measurements at a site.

Sales and Estimating:

A student involved in the sales and estimating program will:
• Earn experience as a sales and estimating assistant
• Train in TruGreen Landcare sales and estimating process
• Estimate new or existing commercial maintenance projects
• Find and develop leads and go with a sales representative on sales calls
Landscape Installation/Enhancements:
You will spend this time as member of a versatile installation crew and you'll be exposed to a variety of operations such as:
• Creating massive flower displays
• Installing drainage systems
• Grading and sod work
• Traditional plantings
• Scheduling work
• Managing people
• Reviewing profit/loss monthly statements and projections
• Attending weekly branch meetings where all aspects of branch operations are discussed

Round Hill Club is an 18 hole private club, designed by Walter Travis in 1924. The facility is locaterd in Greenwich, Connecticut and consists of: 210 acres and includes a driving / skeet range, outdoor / indoor tennis, paddle tennis, squash, fitness center and pool. The club recently hosted the Connecticut Open and is the annual site for a U.S. Seniors event.
We are in the final stages of growing in our recently installed USGA, A-4 bentgrass greens. Continual projects include an extensive tree removal program, native restoration, and drainage. Currently in the planning stages of installing a new irrigation system. Future projects include; installation of a new irrigation system, bunker renovation, and redesigning of the practice facility.

Interns will be held accountable for their work and our expected to maintain professional appearance and attitude. Responsibility will be placed on individuals that expose them to all aspects of the golf course maintenance industry. Such responsibilities will include: safe and proper chemical calibration and applications, hand-watering techniques that coincide with championship playing conditions, irrigation repair and maintenance, course set up for tournament and weekend play, and the completion of various in house projects. Our goal is to ensure that interns have an educational and successful internship if they have the desire and drive to do so.

Minimum Qualifications:

Interns will be selected based on work experience (references), academic standing, professional apperance, and attitude. The Round Hill Club staff is committed to providing championship conditions on a daily basis. This requires dedication and a strong work ethic.
