Printing from stats server

March, 2008

There are no public printers on stats unix server. You need to download and print locally on your PC.

Downloading Files

To download a file to your PC you need to use a Secure FTP application, such as WinSCP for PCs, Fugu or Fetch for Macs. Once downloaded, you print the file like any other file on your PC. You can get WinSCP or Fugu from http://www.oit.umass.edu/software/download/index.html

Printing Postscript Files

Some applications (SAS Graph, psf) create postscript output. You will need software on your PC to open and print postscript files.

Acrobat Distiller (part of Acrobat Professional) will automatically convert postscript files to pdf files, which you can then print on your local printer.

Ghostscript is a free application for managing postscript files on a PC.
