Options So You Can Pick the Right Degree for You 

We offer several graduate degree options so you can pick the program that best fits your interests and needs:

 The Master of Public Policy 
A one-year program of online and in-person classes that allows you to move quickly and affordably toward pursuing your professional goals with the skills you need to fuel your success. Open to both full- and part-time students.

 The 4+1 Master of Public Policy
Open to undergraduates at UMass Amherst and the other Five Colleges (Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke and Smith colleges), the 4+1 MPP allows you to begin earning graduate credits while you’re an undergrad, making it a fast and affordable way to get your degree,

The Master of Public Policy & Administration
A two-year program that provides a strong analytical foundation that can be applied to a wide variety of policy fields. MPPA students can opt to pursue a dual degree in Business Administration, Public Health, Higher Education, or Regional Planning. Open to both full- and part-time students.

An Engaged Approach to Learning
Our curriculum balances academic theory with professional skills development and practical experience working on projects for clients. You’ll graduate uniquely prepared for the professional opportunities ahead of you.

The School of Public Policy prepares students to solve problems for the common good. Our comprehensive approach to integrating social justice into our research, teaching, and hands-on work has received national recognition.
