SPP Co-Sponsors Talk by MA State Auditor Suzanne M. Bump

The School of Public Policy is co-sponsoring a talk by State Auditor Suzanne M. Bump with the UMass Women into Leadership and the Department of Political Science.

The talk will take place on Friday March 3rd, 2017 from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. in S340 Life Science Laboratories (LSL) on the UMass Amherst campus.

Suzanne M. Bump, the 25th Auditor of the Commonwealth, and the first female to serve in this role in the state’s history, was sworn into office in January 2011.

Through her leadership, Bump’s office has had a significant impact promoting accountability and transparency, and building public trust in government.

In this talk, Auditor Bump will discuss recent reports released by her office on cybersecurity, water infrastructure, and global warming.

The Office of the State Auditor conducts performance and technical assessments of programs, departments, agencies, authorities, contracts, and vendors. While these audits and reports may uncover problems and issues, they also contain recommendations to improve accountability, efficiency, and transparency, making state government work better for the citizens of the Commonwealth.
