  • Each student will develop their own program within the parameters of the degree requirements.
    Students are responsible to clarify their own professional interests.
  • Public Health is the art and science of protecting and improving the health of a community through an organized and systematic effort that includes education, assurance of the provision of health services and protection of the public from exposures that will cause harm.
  • The B.S. in Public Health Sciences can lead to:
    • Entry-level positions within the health and human services field.
    • Teaching health in the public school system.
    • Graduate School in the Public Health and Health Sciences field.

Degree Requirements

There are two tracks within the major:

  1. Social Science Track
  2. Science Track

For each track, there are four core components to this degree: Math and Statistics Courses, Foundation Courses; Public Health Courses, and the Collateral Field

Description of the Tracks

PUBHLTH 490B Public Health Sciences Capstone Course (3 credits) will be required of all Public Health Sciences majors.  This capstone course is designed to give public health students the opportunity to bring together all their knowledge from other courses into one cumulating experience.
