I recently completed a thirty day internship in the Infection Control and Environmental Health Department in King Fahad Medical City, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Objective: I learned the importance of providing a safe environment for the patients, health care workers and visitors of KFMC hospital.

After my training, independently, I was able to supervise and implement infection control policies and procedures through daily rounds in assigned clinical areas. I carefully observed implementations of proper infection control policy during active work of health care workers. I performed daily rounds and collection of needed data for surveillance from all departments including laboratories. I wrote monthly surveillance reports for the environmental health department and participated in data analysis in the epidemiology and biostatics department. I followed up on all nosocomial infected cases and communicable diseases according to the policy of infection control. I shared actively in the team effort for controlling any outbreaks. I participated in the educational programs of infection control administration to health care workers. I attended
and contributed in infection control group meetings and seminars and auditing and implementing of new infection control programs with the infection control staff.
