Academic Advising

The undergraduate degree program in Public Health Sciences provides a variety of advising and academic resources for its students. Both our staff advisors and peer advisors are here to help address your academic questions and concerns so that you can make the most of your UMass Amherst education.

Peer Advising Drop-In Center
Located in Arnold House Rm 221

Peer advisors can answer questions about the public health field, applying to the major, university and program requirements, completing advising forms, and planning balanced academic schedules. Please bring a copy of your completed tracking form to your meeting.

The Peer Advising Program is designed to foster personal and professional development in public health leadership, as well as providing guidance to students in the Public Health Sciences major. This will be gained through the following modalities: in-class dialogues and learning activities, assigned readings, and working with groups and individual students in the drop-in advising center. Through this internship, you will be able to refine your own knowledge of public health, explain the major to others, improve leadership skills and qualities, create community, support peers, and be part of a dynamic and innovative advising program.

All appointments will be in Career Services in 511 Goodell Building. When you come in the front doors of Goodell, turn left in the lobby and walk over to the Career Services reception desk and let them know you are there for an advising appointment.
