Welcome to the Department of Public Health at UMass Amherst, an inter-disciplinary group of faculty and staff with expertise in five different areas who are committed to improving the health of all the public. Improving the public’s health is complex, and involves expertise in many disciplines. As an undergraduate student majoring in Public Health, or as a graduate student with a specific area of concentration, an understanding of the interface of all the areas is critical. All students are introduced to the five core public health concentrations:
- Community Health Education
- Environmental Health Sciences
- Health Policy and Management
The Department has a large undergraduate program, and offers a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree, as well Master of Science (MS) and Ph.D degrees in each of the five concentrations.
The best way to explore more about a particular degree program in a discipline is to go to the concentration’s web site. You can learn more about the faculty, research projects, academic programs, students, and some of the exciting things going on.
The Department of Public Health has a highly acclaimed Online MPH program, and a large on-campus academic program. For information concerning the online program, visit the online program webpage.
Join us! Come, learn, and help to create a better future. There is no question that our country and the world will need all of our help.
