About Us

The Department of Public Health at the University of Massachusetts Amherst is among the most comprehensive departments in New England, offering a wide range of on-campus and online academic programs, including Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degree options. Our program features small classes, award-winning faculty, and personalized advising.

Faculty expertise extends to many pressing public health problems as well as cross-cutting issues such as obesity and diabetes prevention, women’s health, global health, aging and healthy living, and environmental health concerns. The Department features numerous opportunities for community-based student internships, and experience in outreach programs and partnerships that promote health and the quality of life in diverse populations.

The Department of Public Health is fully accredited by the Council of Education for Public Health. We are one of four departments within the School of Public Health and Health Sciences, which is a member school in the Association of Schools & Programs of Public Health.
