Research Description:
Leng-Feng works with Dr. Brian Umberger in the Locomotion Research Group. His current research involves developing a computer model of the chimpanzee musculoskeletal system to study the comparative mechanics, energetics, and control of bipedal locomotion in chimpanzees and humans. Together with locomotor data from chimpanzees, the musculoskeletal model will be used to evaluate the impact of specific morphological adaptations that have been proposed to play a role in the evolution of human bipedalism.
