I am the President and CEO of EviMed Research Group, LLC, an independent consultancy specializing in evidence-based medicine, health services and outcomes research, whose area of focus is prevention and management of healthcare-acquired complications and
promotion of efficient and high quality healthcare delivery with the emphasis on the hospital and ICU settings. I am also an active adjunct faculty at the School of Public Health and Health Sciences at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
After earning my MD at the Boston University School of Medicine, I went on to complete my residency in Internal Medicine followed by a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the Tufts Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. I also hold a Masters in Public Health in Epidemiology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. I got my MPH because I needed a stronger grounding in the methodologies of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in order to do better quality research.
My experience is in evidence-based medicine (EBM) and outcomes research as an academic physician-researcher. I am a principal investigator in healthcare technology assessments at an Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) -designated Evidence-based Practice Center (EPC), an independent consultant, and a faculty and scientific mentor at the University of Massachusetts School of Public Health and Health Sciences. I also am frequently invited to speak on evidence-based healthcare and have authored over 100 peer reviewed articles, scientific presentations, and monographs. I also am a peer reviewer for several journals and a member of the Society for Critical Care Medicine, American Thoracic Society, as well as a member of the leadership of the American College of Chest Physicians. My most recent work focuses on hospital-acquired complications with a specific emphasis on infections with resistant pathogens, including Clostridium difficile.
