Nutrients & Bioactives for Health Cluster

The Nutrients & Bioactives for Health cluster focuses on nutritional biology and epidemiology with particular emphasis on understanding the role of micronutrients, dietary bioactive components, and dietary patterns in health. Crosscutting research interests of this group include the effects of nutrients on epigenetic changes and the effects of bioactive food components status on inflammation in cells and how these changes influence gene expression and cell function and may impact the development of chronic diseases, particularly diabetes, cancer, and osteoporosis, as well as other health-related outcomes, such as pregnancy outcomes, disease progression in older adults, and the development of obesity across the lifespan.
