The SPHHS will hold its 19th Annual Research Day on Tuesday, April 5 beginning at 2:00 pm in the Student Union Ballroom.
“Just making a shift to a more plant-based diet can offer significant health benefits,” she says.
The students represent all four undergraduate majors in the SPHHS.
She was one of seven ISSR Scholars chosen for 2016-17.
Haley Harzynski says the group was established to “educate the campus about benefits of vegetarian(ism) and veganism.”
"I was pleased to be selected based on my research, merit, and long-standing commitment to addressing health disparities," says Cordeiro.
This daylong event is designed to help prepare students for the transition from college into the workforce.
She received the award to develop new civic engagement or service-learning courses, integrating classroom learning with community-based learning.
She will use the award to cover travel expenses for her dissertation research in Swaziland.
