Health and Nutrition Diversity Scholars (HANDS)

HANDS (Health and Nutrition Diversity Scholars) is a special program designed to increase the diversity of students in the field of nutrition. HANDS Scholars participate in a 1-credit Scholars Seminar each semester, and have access to department and campus-based supports including tutoring, mentorship and career counseling. HANDS Scholars will also participate in nutrition conferences and other special programs for professional development, including workshops, self-assessment programs, research and education opportunities, as well as annual dinners and other events for a small group of committed students.

Support for this student training project was provided by USDA Higher Education Multicultural Scholars Program Competitive Grant No. 2006-38413-16595 from the National Institute of Food and Agriculture.
