Undergraduate Programs – Scholarships

Two scholarships for seniors (at least 90 credit hours accrued) are offered by the department: the Virginia Beal Scholarship and the Helen Mitchell Scholarship. These scholarships are named for former faculty members at UMass, both well-respected in the profession. Scholarship recipients are selected by the nutrition faculty. While emphasis is placed on academic performance, a student's potential contribution to the profession as well as financial needs are taken into account in making the final decision. The deadline for application is usually late in the Fall semester.

We will be offering $6000 scholarships to five qualifying students new to the nutrition major for up to 3 years, beginning Spring 2007. For more information. click on Health and Nutrition Diversity Scholarships (HANDS).
