Undergraduate Programs – Minor in Nutrition
The minor is particularly relevant for students who want to apply their science training to the practical problems of human health.
Requirements:
1. Satisfactory completion of the following courses or their equivalents. (If a course is part of a two-semester sequence, students must complete both semesters.)
- General Chemistry with lab
- Organic Chemistry with lab
- Biochemistry with lab
- Anatomy and Physiology
2. The following major courses:
- NUTRITN 230 Basic Nutrition
- NUTRITN 352 Nutrition in the Life Cycle
- NUTRITN 430 Nutrition and Metabolism
- NUTRITN 580 Medical Nutrition Therapy
- NUTRITN 577 Nutrition Problems in U.S.
Students who complete a minor in human nutrition should be able to communicate effectively with, and coordinate activities with, dietitians or other nutrition professionals. They will not qualify, however, for most jobs involving counseling patients or clients which require the full R.D. preparation.
