Graduation Requirements

Completion of all course requirements (44 credits), which includes the 21 credits in the major field as required by the Graduate School. All courses, including prerequisites must be taken for Letter Grade Credit, not Audit, Pass/Fail, etc. Students entering the Online MPH Nutrition may transfer up to six (6) course credits toward the requirements for the Online MPH Nutrition degree. These courses must be clearly graduate courses taken within three years from the time of admission and taken in excess of the credits required for the Bachelor’s degree or any other degree earned by the student prior to enrollment in the Online MPH Nutrition program.

Earn a passing grade (C or higher) in every course.

Maintain a B (3.0) average during study in the Online MPH Nutrition at UMass-Amherst.

Culminating Experience
The culminating experience provides an opportunity for students to study a current public health nutrition problem while synthesizing knowledge acquired from coursework. Students in the Online MPH Nutrition can fulfill this requirement by completing 6 credits of Project and Project Presentation, or 6 credits of additional coursework plus a final exit examination. Students will apply critical thinking, analytical abilities, and communication skills that integrate the core academic areas of nutrition and public health. The final project report or examination acts as the official written comprehensive examination.

Continuous Enrollment Requirement
Degree students must be continuously enrolled in the Online MPH Nutrition program during the fall and spring Semesters (not summer sessions) until their degree is awarded. Please be aware that the grade of "incomplete" from a previous semester does not maintain your enrollment status. To remain enrolled in the program while not taking classes for the next semester, a program fee of $260.00* must be paid and a complete Program Fee card must be submitted by the class registration deadline and sent to:
