SPHHS Senior Recognition Ceremony Information, Saturday, May 12, 2012
Our senior recognition ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 9 a.m. in the Fine Arts Center. The ceremony will last until approximately 10:30 a.m.
Students are asked to arrive dressed in your regalia at the Fine Arts Center lobby no later than 8:15 a.m. Lobby doors will open at approximately 7:30 am, and doors to the concert hall will open at approximately 8:15 am.
You will use the same caps and gowns for both the university commencement and our senior recognition ceremony. For information on cap and gown pickup, click here.
When you arrive, please proceed to the “check in” area and pick up your name card. Please complete both sides of this card. The front side has information for the photographer including name, mailing address, text number, and permanent email address. The back side of the card has information for the reader, including the phonetic pronunciation of your name, to help the announcer call your name before you to walk the stage and receive your medallion.
IMPORTANT: You will need to hold onto this name card until you reach the stage during the ceremony. You will NOT be able to walk on stage to receive your medallion without a completed name card.
You will be seated inside the Concert Hall and receive your medallions according to your department. Your major will be called to the stage by your department chair or head. Inside the concert hall, you will be seated as follows:
Communication
Disorders majors - Orchestra Pit Rows A-D
Nutrition majors - Section 1 Row A
Public Health Sciences majors - Section 1 Row B-D
Kinesiology majors - Section 1 Row E and Section 2 Rows F-K
The full seating chart can be seen below. Instructions and seating charts will also be available in the lobby prior to the ceremony.

When the ceremony ends, faculty will exit the stage first. You will then follow them out of the venue by row/department. All guests should remain seated until all faculty and students have exited the concert hall.
Tickets are not required for admittance to the Senior Recognition Ceremony. However, please keep in mind that seating capacity is limited inside the Fine Arts Center Concert Hall. We also ask that you contact us as soon as possible if anyone in your family attending the Senior Recognition Ceremony requires special accommodations, i.e., wheelchair seating, etc. Please direct questions to Patrick Freeman via email at pfreeman@schoolph.umass.edu.
If you or your guests are driving to campus, we recommend parking in either Lot 62 on North Pleasant Street across from the Fine Arts Center or in Lot 32 across from the Whitmore Administration Building. If you’re arriving by bus, please double-check the bus schedule as buses may be running on an alternate schedule on Saturday morning.
If you have any questions about your graduation status, please do not hesitate to contact the Office of the University Registrar in 209 Whitmore, or by phone at 413-545-0555.
