SPHHS students and faculty take part in Five College Datafest 2016

This year's Five College Datafest took place with participation and assistance from faculty and students from across the School of Public Health and Health Sciences. The event, held at UMass Amherst on April 1-3, is a national undergraduate competition sponsored by the American Statistical Association in which teams of up to five students work over a weekend to extract insight from a rich and complex data set.

A team including four Public Health Sciences majors, named β than U, won the title of Best in Group. The group included Public Health Sciences majors Bianca Agustin, Harley Jean, Laura Bowles and Stephanie Crowley along with individualized concentration major Vincent Lee. Among others at the event were Assistant Professors of Biostatistics Nicholas Reich and Matthias Steinruecken, kinesiology major Gregory Petrucci, and biostatistics graduate students Steele Valenzuela and Alexander Bogdan.
