Nutrition major Melanie Wilk recently received the Mead Johnson Nutrition Scholarship from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation. The foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and its mission is promoting nutrition and dietetics. The $3,000 award is sponsored by Mead Johnson Nutrition, a company that is focused on children’s nutrition. Wilk hopes to work with mothers and children in the future as part of her career as a dietitian.

“I was very excited when I learned I had received the award, but when our Program Director Claire Norton contacted me and explained how prestigious the award is I was in pure shock,” she says.

Wilk, who is graduating in May, plans to use the funds from the scholarship towards funding her dietetic internship, a post-graduation program that will give her experience necessary to take the exam to become a Registered Dietitian.
