When U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren visited the UMass Amherst campus recently to announce a new effort to refinance student debt, SPHHS representatives were among those she met. According to a Daily Hampshire Gazette article, Kinesiology Department Chair Patty Freedson described her research on physical activity using accelerometers and the importance of National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding for her lab. Another SPHHS representative, kinesiology & public health double-major Leo Sheehan, was one of the student participants in a "college affordability" roundtable discussion with Warren and other University officials.
