Associate Professor of Environmental Health Sciences Richard Peltier comments in a story about how people in California are coping with smoke from wildfires and the health problems associated with breathing the smoke. “Short-term exposures to intense smoke can lead to lung and cardiovascular problems in some people, especially if they are already susceptible to these diseases,” he says.
