Assistant Surgeon General TeCora Ballom

United States Public Health Service Officer, TeCora Ballom, DO, a prospective May 2017 graduate of the UMass Amherst MPH in Nutrition program, has been promoted to Rear Admiral and appointed Assistant Surgeon General effective January 1, 2017. 
RADM Ballom is currently the Regional Medical Director for the South Central Region of the Federal Bureau of Prisons. During her twenty year career in the USPHS, she has held various leadership positions which include deployments to the Commonwealth Northern Marianas Islands and Immigration Health Services for the Department of Homeland Security.
Admiral Ballom has been recognized by the U.S. Public Health service for her contributions to the nation’s health with the USPHS Outstanding Service Medal, the Commendation Medal, Achievement Medal, the Outstanding Unit Citation, and Hazardous Duty Award, and was selected the 2014 United States Public Health Service Physician of the Year for Applied Public Health.
