Toby Fisher and Andrea Freeman of the Massachusetts Public Health Association (MPHA) spoke to over 50 students and community health leaders during a visit to the UMass Amherst campus on February 5th. Fisher is the new Director of the MPHA and Freeman is the Deputy Field Director and they were visiting Western Massachusetts to launch Act FRESH, a new campaign to raise public awareness about equity issues related to access to healthy affordable food and safe physical recreation opportunities.
Fisher and Freeman spoke to two sessions during their visit, including a class led by Michael Begay, Associate Professor of Health Policy and Management and a public session of students, alumni, and members of the local public health community. Their visit provided an opportunity for hearing the current state of policy initiatives related to public health in Massachusetts, and provided an excellent opportunity for networking and education for attendees.
