The UMass Amherst School of Public Health and Health Sciences (SPHHS) is pleased to announce that Zhenhua Liu, Assistant Professor of Nutrition, is the winner of the 2017-18 College Outstanding Teacher Award. The award is sponsored by the UMass Amherst Provost’s Office and the Center for Teaching & Faculty Development, and given annually to honor individual faculty members for their teaching accomplishments. The recipients will be recognized at Undergraduate Commencement and at the School’s Senior Recognition Ceremony.
“I consider that providing up-to-date science, stimulating critical thinking of current controversies, and providing hands-on biomedical laboratory training are particularly important for our nutrition undergraduate students and graduate students with their career towards dietetic program, medical schools, and biomedical industry,” says Liu.
This past year, Liu taught NUTRITN 130H: Nutrition and a Healthy Lifestyle for undergraduate honors students and NUTRITN 597S: Nutrition and Cancer Prevention for upper-level undergraduate and graduate students.
“It is my great honor to receive this college outstanding teacher award,” says Liu. “I will continue my efforts to provide excellent teaching and laboratory training to meet our students’ needs in biomedical and health sciences.”
