Gayatri Guhanarayan, lecturer in the Department of Kinesiology, was recently selected as a 2016-17 Teaching for Inclusiveness, Diversity and Equity (TIDE) Ambassador by UMass Amherst's Institute for Teaching Excellence and Faculty Development (TEFD).

The TIDE Ambassadors Fellowship, new this year, focuses on excellence in teaching for inclusiveness, diversity and equity. As part of the fellowship, Guhanarayan will act as a catalyst for change in the campus community through the design of a diversity-focused workshop or program that will share her expertise with colleagues at the departmental, school/college, or campus-wide level.

TIDE Ambassadors build a year-long community of practice, which includes attending a 3-day institute in May, a half-day institute in December, a day-long institute the following May, and seminars on teaching pedagogy twice a semester.
